John and Don are HUGE baseball fans. Have been since they were knee-high to the strike zone. Our genial hosts grew up in Orange County, CA (before it was "the OC"), and attended quite a few Angels games, and even a Dodger game or two. (Mickey Mantle hit a home run against the Angels once, which actually made John very happy, as he was a big Mantle fan.)
Lo, these many years later, our (still genial) hosts find themselves living in the Philadelphia metro area, following the Fightin' Phillies as they try for a second shot at the World Series in 2023. John (right) and his son Conor (left, pictured here with son/brother-in-law Taylor Ross in the middle) have been in the stands regularly at Citizen's Bank Park...
...and, of course, John has been at CPB many times with Don, most recently when the Phils beat Miami in the Wild Card round to advance to the 2023 Division Series with Atlanta. We were in right field just beyond where Bryson Stott's grand slam ball landed.
Don's son Chris lives in Baltimore, so the two of them have been to Camden Yards a lot over the past few years, including the game in September where the Orioles clinched their first postseason berth since 2014.
It's been a pretty exciting baseball year for us. Good luck to the Phils and the Os as they make their way through the 2023 postseason!
